Lorelei is entering her third year of hockey, and thanks to the support of Hockey Day in Houston and the Houston Storm Girls Hockey Association (HTX Storm), she can continue doing what she loves—playing the game.
For many families, the cost of hockey can create barriers that keep young athletes off the ice. Through a partnership between Hockey Day in Houston and HTX Storm, families facing financial challenges have access to assistance that helps ensure every girl has the opportunity to play, develop, and belong.

Hockey Day in Houston is a nonprofit, community-driven celebration that brings together Houston’s hockey organizations, youth and adult programs, ice rinks, colleges, charities, and corporate partners. Together, they work to grow the game by introducing more families to hockey, fostering an inclusive environment, and creating opportunities in a city without a current professional hockey team.
That mission extends beyond a single event. Through its partnership with HTX Storm, Hockey Day in Houston helps fund a need-based financial assistance program that makes hockey more accessible for girls throughout the Houston area.
HTX Storm is committed to ensuring that financial circumstances never stand in the way of a player’s passion. Each year, the organization dedicates funding to need-based financial aid, helping families like Lorelei’s keep their daughters on the ice.
More than just developing hockey players, HTX Storm is focused on developing confident young women. The club emphasizes player and personal growth, building a strong Storm culture, and creating pathways and opportunities for female hockey players at every stage of their journey. Their philosophy is simple: no matter what level you play, hockey has the power to enrich your life. It builds confidence, improves fitness, develops strength and coordination, and creates friendships and life skills that last far beyond the rink.
For Lorelei, this support means another season of growth, new teammates, unforgettable memories, and the chance to continue chasing her dreams on the ice.
Because every girl deserves the opportunity to play.
